Skin self-examination means checking one’s own skin from head to toe for suspicious lesions, including changes in existing moles and the development of new moles. This is one of the most effective ways to find melanoma in its early, most treatable stages. You may find the ABCDE rules and the ugly ducking sign helpful in telling apart moles from melanoma. Whenever you are in doubt, consult your doctor.
